    My design.

Backstory: I had been trying to book Blitz from the UK. It turned out they had gone “soft”. Tovar was willing to still bring them in, and let them face the, uh, music – but they bottled out. The two punk records that were big on K Rock at the time were Institutionalized and Nellie the Elephant. I managed to book the Toy Dolls and swing visas in just days, and they came in and played the Olympic. We needed another show to pay the bills. At the time Suicidal live were anathema because of mean scenes etc. I figured if I put the two bands together, punkers/cholos would all be laughing so hard at the Toy Dolls they’d forget to fight – and then Gary, just to spice it up, added the Big Boys, well known for being gay, and Stalag 13 – skinheads ahoy – to the bill. Another factor was that, traditionally shows in early Jan were a no-no. As it was, it was one of the best parties ever..
